The Somali Blind Diaspora is pleased to announce the official opening of the Somali Assistive Technology Institute (SATI) . The establishment of this educational institution was made possible through the long-standing commitment of the association, in particular with the involvement of the Deputy Chairman Ahmed Alasow . The institute aims to provide blind and visually impaired people in Somalia with sustainable access to education, assistive technology, and social participation.
Over the past five years, the association has continuously provided online education for blind individuals, focusing on practical training in the use of iPhones, computers, and assistive technologies. The Somali Assistive Technology Institute has been officially recognized by local authorities and represents an important milestone for inclusive education in Somalia. The institute enables participants to develop digital skills, strengthen their independence, and actively engage in social life.
The official inauguration of SATI was attended by numerous well-known figures from society, education, and civil administration, highlighting the institute’s significance and the recognition of the association’s commitment and leadership.
With the opening of the Somali Assistive Technology Institute (SATI) , the Somali Blind Diaspora sets a strong example for inclusion, educational equity, and digital participation.
